Now that our summer session has started (remember, we’re south of the Equator, it’s summer here), we have A LOT more students (think 60 more). Our Fridays are a little different now, due to the influx of kids. Rather than everyone doing the same activity, we have split the activities by age group. Ryan and I have had the good fortune to accompany groups to the “gras” these past two Fridays. The gras, located behind a pollo a la brasa restaurant called “Las Vegas”, is basically a soccer field with nets all around it so that the balls don’t leave the area. Two weeks ago the third and fourth graders headed down to the gras for an hour each of soccer and other assorted activities.
Last week it was the first and second graders’ turn. We played soccer again, as well as “Matagente” (basically dodgeball where the teachers get to throw the ball at the students…very therapeutic…just kidding, any respective employers…it’s made of foam, I swear…Mr. Murphy used to do that to us all the time…moving on…), “Pato, pato, ganso” (Duck, duck, goose), tug-o-war, and a three-legged race.
