There are technically still 2 days of Christmas left (the Christmas season goes until January 6th, Los Reyes Magos, don’t you know…). Traveling and family time have taken precedent over blogging time, so here are five more days, in rapid succession. We hope everyone had a very merry Christmas and happy New Year.
…Christmas Eve mass at the church in Plaza Santa Ana. After the party, we booked it home to attend Mass at 6:30pm. The church is just steps from our house, so when we heard the bells tolling, we ran up the street. Clearly the bells were warning us in Peruvian time, because we were the only ones there. Others trickled in between 6:30 and 7:00 and we got started. The priest was clearly a follower of Father Pat at Sacred Heart because we were done in less than an hour. Some highlights of the service included people bringing the baby Jesus from their nativities to be blessed, the applause we gave for Jesus and the Catholic Church at the end, and the priest welcoming us “visitors from afar” at the end of the Mass.
Somehow our photos went missing. With so many people in the house, it was hard to remember whose camera had which pictures. Family, if you find any, send them our way so we can post some!
