We wanted to do a series on the blog to capture what the Christmas season is like in South America. The title suggests we will write 12 such posts. It maybe more, it maybe less. That really depends on the Christmas cheer you provide, Ayacucho.

This first post actually comes from Ban(y)os, Ecuador, where the city was in full-on decorating mode when we visited last week. I thought these snowmen made from painted tires were really brilliant.
