Today and tomorrow are Todos los Santos (All Saints’ Day) and Dia de los Muertos (or Day of the Dead) in Peru. One of the traditions is to eat “tantawawa” or “baby bread”. Carmen, the mother of the family whose house we live in, brough us some tantawawa to try last night and it was truly delicious. The bread she brought us to was sweet, cinnamon-y and had a raisin in the middle (which Ryan doesn’t like…more raisins for me!). My understanding (from wikipedia) is it is generally shaped like a baby, hence the name, but as you can see, these are more crescent-shaped.
